The tour of the interior of the Giammaria Mazzucchelli Museum of a Villa in the west wing of the villa begins in the dining-room with late 19th century furniture and fittings which used to belong to Cristoforo Tempini, who bought the villa around 1875 from Marietta Longo (Brescia, 1803 – 1878) the wife of Giammaria Mazzucchelli (Brescia, 1767 – 1836), who was the grandson of the 18th century man of letters. There is a fine stone fireplace on the north wall with its carved mantelpiece divided into three parts and supported on elegant corbels with lion’s feet. The coat of arms in the centre of the fireplace is the Tempini family’s and it can be seen impressed on the leather chair seats as well.
In the small room nearby there are four paintings: the portrait of 1580 of Giovanmaria Mazzucchelli (born in 1528) and the one of the end of 18th century of Francesco Mazzucchelli, the son of Giammaria. The Mazzucchelli family tree and coat of arms can be seen in this room, and the acquisition of the title of Count by Federico in 1736 and the subsequent registration of the family in the Libro d’oro (the Golden book) of the true titled nobility of the Venetian State is clear to see.
Besides the 18th and 19th century furniture there is a beautiful blown glass chandelier of Murano work manufactured in the second half of the 18th century, and in modern times used as a model for the chandeliers in the other reception rooms.
There is a Steinway grand piano in the cosy little music room, in the 20th century it used to belong to Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli. The instrument is a model D (recognisable by this letter next to the number on the frame), and is one of the two pianos autographed in the resonance chamber by the famous pianist. The matriculation number (n.350047) shows it was built after 1950.
