Clothing, dreams and disguises. The art of recycling in costumes by Maria Luisa Squarcialupi, Grafo, Fondazione Giacomini-Meo-Fiorot, 2005

The exhibition presents a selection of cloaks created and made by Maria Luisa Squarcialupi, an artist from Padua, from the seventies to today. The garments displayed are strictly made from recycled materials, proving that objects which have become useless and are destined for the rubbish bin can, with creative ability, still be aesthetic and give life to true works of art.
Catalogue of the exhibition held at the Mazzucchelli Museums, 15 December 2005 - 16 April 2006.

“Through her works, she lightly, ironically and at the same time sumptuously, shows us how discarded materials can be brought back to life by transforming them into prints, colours and forms, extremely refined hand-crafted products. Plastic bags and bottles, pieces of fabric, multicoloured ribbons, old trimmings and antique lace, not only acquire new value but can also cause amazement and wonder”. Angela Bersotti
